Bringing Puppy Home

There are a lot of important factors to making a decision about bring a new dog into your household. It is always best to figure out what is best not only for you, but also for the puppy.

Before the puppy comes home, you should have already puppy-proofed your home. Remember to make sure that whatever areas you are going to let the puppy roam are free of hazards. Check for items left on the floor, dangling chords, and dangerous chemicals that might be left out where the dog can get at them.

Make sure you discuss the puppy’s previous diet with the breeder or kennel and then bring home the same foods he was eating. A sudden change in diet could cause the puppy stomach problems like bloating and diarrhea.

But before you even bring him home, you need to introduce yourself , so it is good to have some toys and a blanket to bring along. Remember this is a new experience for your new friend and it is best to make sure it is a happy and wonderful transition for the new pet.
