You may be thinking about putting down your glasses and getting contact lenses. You may wonder if you can wear them and if it’ll hurt to wear contacts.
First, it doesn’t hurt. Your eyes do amazing things. When you get a small speck of something in your eye, it’s irritating and it hurts – pretty bad sometimes. But your eyes are able to tell the difference between something small and something larger and it just so happens that it doesn’t mind larger things like contact lenses.
Think about it, your eyelids are large and they’re going across your eyes every few seconds when you blink and that doesn’t hurt. So your eyes can handle large, lenses being put in them and it doesn’t hurt. If it did hurt, there wouldn’t be millions of people wearing contact lenses, that’s for sure.
Getting contacts in and out is trcky at first but you get used to it after a few days.
If you are thinking about wearing contact lenses, your best bet is to see your eye doctor or eye care professional. They can give you the proper vision tests and let you know if you’re a candidate for wearing them. Even if you have astigmatism, you are able to get special ones called toric contact lenses.
