A Short Review of the Canon Pixma ip4600

May 26th, 2010

Canon’s ip46000 is the new addition to the brand’s Pixma series. This printer is quite cheap but significantly lacking in some key features. It is practically an upgrade from the Pixma ip4500 printer, although it significantly loses the speed that the Canon Pixma series has long been noted for.

Like its predecessors, the Canon Pixma ip4600 boasts of a fairly good paper handling. There are a couple of paper trays allowing users to load a maximum of 300 sheets simultaneously. The printer also allows users to switch from printing in standard plain paper and photo paper without the need to replace the paper in the tray. The ip4600 also have a duplexing feature that enables users to print on either side of a page for lesser paper costs.

Like most Pixma printers, the ip4600 can be easily set up. This 6 x 11.7 x 17” printer is installed first by plugging in the power cord, putting in the five ink cartridges, and loading the paper. After that, a setup disc is used to install the printer’s driver. Its five-ink system allows savings on the part of the user since there is no need to replace all tanks whenever one cartridge runs low on ink.

But what is very glaring with this printer is its slower printing speed as compared to its predecessors. The Canon Pixma ip4600 printer can only print up to 26 pages of monochrome text in one minute, which is lower than the ip4500’s 31 pages per minute output. Likewise, the printer can only print 21 colored pages a minute, a bit lower than the 24 pages done by the ip4500.

While the printer cost lesser than the ip4500 by about $30, the printing speed may turn off a lot of prospective buyers. And it is still an inexpensive option for those who are in a budget.

Canon Portable Printer Review

May 13th, 2010

Canon has become a household name for many photo enthusiast professionals for years now. They have been on the forefront of printer technology, commanding the respect from all of its competitors. If you so happen to find yourself reading this and other portable printer reviews Cannon ip100 stands out as a clear winner of the bunch. With all of demands from photo enthusiasts these days, Canon must be on to something with the way that they are being raved about online. The Canon IP100 has become the first choice for mobile printing on the fly that is if you are not willing to settle for anything less than the best in your prints. If you want to know what stood out to us the most in our testing, then please keep reading.

When we first opened the box, we saw that there was a rather cute, rectangular housing that made us have initial questions as to the true power of the machine. But we were instantly put in our place when we conducted the first test print. They were gracious enough to include 5 pieces of sample test printing paper, which were perfect for seeing the quality right out of the box. It is a good idea for companies to do this, because you can test the quality of the mobile printer right when you get it. That means that if you do not like it, you can send it back right away. After we studied the manual more in depth, we saw that the reason that the first test prints were so impressive was its 9600×2400 DPI printing resolution. For such a compact mobile printer, that is amazing. You can also custom size your prints to match any standard size or you can take it even further.

Of all the portable printer reviews Cannon ip100 is the clear front-runner. It will be hard to match its power and technically proficient reproductions for some time to come.

Two Best Mobile Printers

March 20th, 2010

Years ago, parents used to give their college bound kids a typewriter when they went off to college. But these days, computers and printers are more widely used. With the small amount of space available to college students, parents are always looking for the best portable printer they can find for their children. Here are some of the contenders for the best portable printer prize. Although there are accessories that can be purchased for this printer, such as an adapter for Bluetooth and a carrying case, it’s a better deal to buy the H470wbt that comes with these options and is cheaper.

Officejet H470b Inkjet by HP
The top spot for best mobile printer goes to the H470b. This is really the H470 from HP but it includes a battery and the price of this model is actually less than buying the other one and a battery. It weighs less than 5 pounds alone, 5 pounds with battery, and less than 6 pounds with the battery and the power adapter. It’s about 13.4×6.5 in size and it stands a mere 3.5 inches tall. It has the ability to print either from a memory card, a connection to a USB, or a PicBridge camera. The cartridge is high capacity and can print up to 500 pages in black and 600 pages in color.

The prints are up to 191 pages when in black and white and 249 in color. The amount of paper that it can hold is 50 sheets. There are plenty of different options for this printer – including an adapter for Bluetooth, a battery that is rechargeable, and a power adapter for a car. When fully charged, the printer can print 290 pages.

So if you have a child going off to college next year, these two portable printers are reported to be the best. They give the best performance and offer the best value for the money.

Submitting Website To Google And Other Steps To Get Noticed

March 5th, 2010

In order to learn to make money online it is important to find ways to target your audience and convince them to click on the ads within your website and to spread the word of your website to their friends and other people that will allow you to get higher rankings. Follow these easy steps to get noticed online and start making money today:

Step # 1 – Define your market

Many people don’t properly define their niche market and they don’t spend time researching what this audience wants. Take the time to figure out who your niche market is so you can start writing articles, posting blogs, sending emails, and targeting them correctly. If you don’t write to their needs, it will be impossible for you to earn money online.

Step # 2 – Advertise

To make money, you must be willing to invest some of your own money. By doing your research properly and working hard, you will be able to advertise to your niche market so you don’t waste money on unsuccessful campaigns. Seek out ways to get your site noticed through free methods. One way to get your site noticed is to tell the directories that you exist. Submitting website to Google can list you with the search engine, even if doesn’t boost your website rankings. Posting blogs, writing articles, and sending emails won’t cost you a cent and it’s an easier way to advertise your website than spending money on pay-per-click campaigns.

Step # 3 – Content

The biggest way to make money is to work on writing and posting quality content on your website. You need to be able to attract people to your website with this content and attract advertisers that sell products based on this content. The content needs to be original and unique to your website in order to gain credibility with Google and with your website followers.

What To Do If You’ve Been Scammed by Companies Pretending to be Google

February 10th, 2010

There are several resources you can take advantage of if you find yourself a victim of scam. These resources were very successful to users who bought into the make money on Google scam as well as several other scams revolving around bogus methods on how to make money. They alerted the government that these scams were a rapidly growing problem, resulting in action being taken against them in the last two years. They do work, and are invaluable. Be sure to share this list with your friends and loved ones, so they’ll know where to turn.

1. Your financial institute. You may think someone will automatically turn to their financial institute once they’ve been scammed, but this is not necessarily the case. Many people are too embarrassed to report that they’ve fallen victim to a scam, and instead pay for the program and any fees that may be attached to it. This should never be the case. Reporting the company to your financial institution is the first step you should take, and serves as a foundation for any of the other companies you choose to contact below.

2. Better Business Bureau. This should be your second choice; once you’ve found you’ve been scammed, gather all relevant information including product purchase receipts, names, addresses and website information, and take the time to fill out their online form. Though they get hundreds of claims a day, they take each claim seriously, and they’ll get back to you expediently.

3. The National Consumer Complaint Center. Sponsored and run by a law firm, this website connects consumers to agencies interested in investigating and handling claims made by consumers, even taking action against such companies.

4. The National Fraud Information Center. You can report to them through the telephone and the Internet. They collect and keep all claims made, and are especially focused against fraud that targets the elderly.

5. Internet Fraud Complain Center. This is a national collaboration between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center. It deals specifically with internet fraud, which is taken very seriously in the United State; submitting a claim to them immediately alerts the authorities.

Advantages of Travel Printers

February 4th, 2010

If you already have your own travel printer and you’re thinking about buying another desktop printer as a dedicated home printer, think first if the additional investment is really worth it. Having one printer may already be enough to provide your printing needs, even at home. For purposes of discussion, we will rely heavily on the Canon Pixma iP100 as a reference. This printer is perfect as a reference since it is one of the highly sought for travel printers.

A Travel Printer Makes a Good Home Printer
What are the features you are looking for in a home printer? As long as it prints at a decent speed and has acceptable resolution, it should be enough for a home printer. The Pixma ip100 prints at a speed of 18 pages per minute for monochrome and 14ppm for color. These are already decent speeds. Your average desktop printer has a speed between 20 to 30ppm. Printers that print more than 30ppm tend to be more expensive and are generally used as business printers. The Pixma iP100 prints at a high resolution of 9600 x 2400 dots per inch. This resolution is already good enough to print photo quality prints, let alone graphical presentations.

Smaller Is Better
Many may disagree with this statement. However, when it comes to cleaning or tidying things up in the house, smaller is definitely better. Since most printers made for traveling are small, finding a space to store them is easier. You could easily hide them in your drawer or simply put it on your desk and it still wouldn’t be a bother. If you need to carry them within the house, it is a lot easier since most of them weigh less than 5 lbs. The latest mobile printers from Canon and HP weigh approximately 4.4lbs and 4.5lbs respectively. You can even ask kids to help out with the chores since these printers are light enough that children won’t mind carrying them.

Battery Pack Considerations
One clear advantage mobile printers have over desktop printers is their secondary power options. In layman’s terms, they have battery packs. Without power, desktop printers are reduced to paperweights. The Canon Pixma iP100, aside from operating on a 110-220V AC outlet, has an additional battery option that allows you to print additional 290 pages on a 3-hour charge. It’s either the AC supply, the optional battery or you can use the car adapter. That way, you don’t lose momentum while printing if the power dies. Of course, you will need your laptop since a desktop computer also runs on AC power.

Multiple Interface Capabilities
Since portability is the primary design consideration in making mobile printers, manufacturers include the connectivity features that are compatible with other mobile gadgets. Most mobile gadgets have either infrared or Bluetooth connectivity. That is why the Canon Pixma ip100 is capable of interfacing with mobile gadgets via infrared or Bluetooth. Even without a computer, you can still print pictures out of this wireless-enabled device. Some desktop printers have this interface as well.

Travel printers may not offer the advantages of your normal desktop printer, like flexible paper handling, duplex printing, or even heavy-duty printing. However, portable printers offer other advantages that desktop printers simply cannot.

Learn To Make Money Online And Supplement Your Income

January 26th, 2010

In today’s world, it is useful to use the Internet and learn to make money online. The Internet offers a countless number of options to make a decent and residual income online.

One could use a website to promote their business online. This would create more awareness about them and their business to a larger crowd who are not limited by geographical boundaries. Along with creating a website, one must learn how to shine out and attract only the audience that would be interested in what they have to offer. They must understand how to make their site appear with high search engine rankings on prominent search engines like Google.

Google uses keywords and links to determine the quality and relevance of the website. It is thus important to ensure that these needs are met within one’s site while being aesthetically appealing to their viewers. Submitting website to google would also be a good way to increase one’s search engine ranking and be visible to more online visitors. This feature is free and more useful when one’s site promotes a specific product or service. It helps by creating awareness across the globe.

One should also learn to make money online through other avenues. Some of these avenues include earning through revenue share programs like Google Adsense, where one can make money from Google Ads that are placed on their website. One earns money from clicks and impressions made on these ads. Writing articles for online submission sites is another way to make money online. This method allows one to write simple, error-free English articles on any topic and earn money either upfront for the submission or based on the number of views the articles receive. One must remember to note the earning options for each article submission site as each site would choose their own method of calculating payment earned by their writers.

Mobile Phone Deals to Choose From

January 15th, 2010

Initially, handsets were used to make distant communication possible and convenient. But as the need and demand for mobiles and as technology both continue to rise, manufacturers are compelled to revolutionize the mobile industry and the phone itself. In effect, the market is flooded with affordable yet luxurious phones. Purchasing these highly advanced devices that are not merely tools for communication is made easier and more cost effective by online web portals that provide attractive schemes. These online markets offer solutions to the selection problems of the customer and then deliver the phones right in front of their doorsteps. Aside from convenience on making the purchase, these web portals also provide their customers the services of the leading mobile brands.

But with the tremendous number of deals currently available, coming up with a decision on what scheme to choose may be quite confusing. Apparently, there is a plethora of brand and deals and everyone is working on giving their customers what they need: a reasonable and cheap deal that has a good coverage. But one thing is for sure: the rising competition is proving to be highly beneficial to the users of the handsets. Companies toil on changing their formats to come up with the supreme schemes as they collaborate with network service providers to meet consumer demands in a way that is both economical and effective.

The thriving deals are what catch the attention of the customers. The most famous of these deals would be the Pay as you go deal and the Contract blackberry bold mobile phone deal. Pay as you go deal could be a beneficial plan especially for users who do not use their handsets excessively. On the other hand, a Contract deal may be more complex because of the terms and conditions that the user has to comply with for a long period of time (usually 8 – 24 months). The condition usually includes prohibition from switching to other network providers. The good thing about this deal, however, is that purchasing your dream mobile is lighter plus there are lots of perks offered like free texts and calls, or in some cases, free other gadgets or accessories. All you have to do is search well to find your ideal deal.

Buying a great new mini notebook

November 18th, 2009

With as many mini notebook types as there are on the internet these days, you have to really try to not actually find a good one. Of course we’re all busy people, so not all of us have the opportunity to sit down from day to day reading about which ones offer the best value, which are the most powerful, and which ones just give your image a little extra something. That’s okay. Right now I’m going to tell you which mini notebook you should be considering to really take your computing experience up a notch.

The first thing you need to do is do a lot of research. Go online and type in “mini notebooks” on your favorite search engine, which should give you a great place of where to start, as well as give you an idea what’s available. I’m sure you’ve done that though; why else would you be here? Let’s discuss:

If you’re really looking for a good mini, look at HP. The Mini 1101 and Mini 5101 are two mini notebooks that really pull their weight. There are pros and cons to both, but it really depends on how you’re going to use it. If you’re looking for Windows XP, the 1101 comes with that pre-loaded, and includes the Atom processor. If you like RAM, it also has that: 2 gigabytes, which is great for a mini notebook such as this. The Mini 5101 has just the same features as the 1101, but it has a faster RAM bus speed and comes with a great Linux distro (SUSE). You won’t ever have to deal with Vista for this thing, and that’s a good thing. The only issue that I’ve seen with both of these is the screen size: They’re still sitting at 10 inches, so that’s a little more than you’d expect from a mini notebook.

So basically, it’s like this: Look around, do your homework, and make your decisions carefully. If you do that, you’ll go home with a great new mini notebook.

Mini Laptops – The Perfect Student Laptop

Mini laptops can be a great tool for college students.  They are affordable, very portable, and  widely available, but you need to be aware of a few things before running out to buy one.   For example certain models have keyboards that are very hard to type on, so making sure you get a model with a 10-inch screen can be a big help.  Having typed on both the 9 and 10-inch models I can say that taking notes with the 10-inch is much easier.  Another things to be aware of is that mini notebooks don’t come with CD-ROM drives.  Depending on your major this might be a big deal.  Most schools do a great job of providing most information such as source packets, etc in digital form, but eventually you will need a CD-ROM.  Luckily you can purchase an external CD-ROM that connects via a USB port for around $18.00 – $30.00 dollars.   Those are the only two problems I ran into while researching mini laptops for school.  Hopefully they will help you find that perfect netbook.

Clone DVD protected

November 10th, 2009

Clone DVD protected software is usually a very easy program used to copy DVD movies. The best thing about clone DVD protected programs is that they remove all of the normal DVD protections inserted by manufacturers. Wouldn’t it be great to make backup DVD copies from all of your movies?

Wouldn’t it also be great to copy all of the music from your iPod for free? Another aspect of these clone programs is that you will want to copy media from your portable devices.

Don’t spend the extra money when you can get clone DVD software programs that give you the same features as paid programs. You can expect to see DVD Title, Chapter Preview and also scene selection and special features if you want to build it in initially.

What I like is the ability to copy certain segments or a whole movie. I also like to personalize my movies utilizing my clone DVD protected software. A lot of programs will let you customize the aspect ration also such as 4:3 or 16:9.

For more information, visit Clone DVD Protected.

Using HTML in Blogs and Websites

November 8th, 2009

HTML stands for hypertext markup language. It is not really a programming language at all but just a series of markups that text the browser how to format a piece of text or image or layout of a page. It is used to design webpages and blog pages. It dictates how the information we see on those pages will be presented to us in our browser. And, each browser interprets HTML markups slightly different.

Basic knowledge of HTML should be acquired by those individuals who want to become web designers, blog designers, or just want to have their own website or blog. Knowing how to copy and paste HTML is something very important to anyone who is active in blogging and it not that hard to learn.

Free Medical Billing Software

November 5th, 2009

Doctors are the modern day’s savior. They do the seemingly impossible art of curing and bringing people back to health. Anyone would have to agree that nothing gets close to a messianic complex than that. But  often times, the most challenging tasks of doctors goes beyond the operating rooms.

Just like any other business, securing clients’, or in this case, patients’, payments is not easy. There are loopholes like some receivables are forgotten, while some patients simply don’t have the funds to afford their medical bills.  Modern technology offers a viable solution, and it comes in the form of a program that organizes billing and schedules – free medical billing software.  It has proven to have made the physician’s lives so much easier and so much more efficient that it has transcended the problem of just keeping files, but minimizing unwanted clutter in a doctor’s office.

Robot Vacuums to help the elderly

November 5th, 2009

As we get older the simplest of tasks become a whole lot more taxing. Our grandparents lived through very difficult times post world war two and are used to working hard. Younger generations typically have a lot more relaxed opinions on housework and chores. We are part of the convenience age. Our society has done everything it can to make everything easy for us. We have 24 hour shopping so we can pop out and buy pretty much anything whenever we want. We have online shopping so we dont even have to leave the house to buy things. The internet makes keeping in contact a doddle and smart phones allow us to take all this convenience with us at all times.

Small luxuries whilst far from essential can greatly improve an elderly person’s quality of life. Electric can openers can be life savers to someone suffering from arthritis. In the same way, a robot vacuum cleaner can make a huge difference to someone with mobility issues, respiratory problems or bad backs.

How to Use the AVS Help File

November 4th, 2009

If you’re looking for help on how to use AVS Video Editor 4, then you should download the AVS help file from the developer’s website directly to your computer. True, there’s also an online version available, but the interface for the installed version is far superior to the online version. If you can manage to get it installed on your computer, you’ll see right away that the installed version has additional features, including easier navigation and a screenshot overview of each program with balloons pointing out the important buttons. To install the file, it’s very important to disable your antivirus program’s firewall application before you start, or the program won’t install. Then open your copy of AVS4YOU (it doesn’t matter whether you have the paid subscription or the free trial), open the program you want to use, and click “Help” in the top menu bar. You’ll be asked whether you want to save the help file or work online. Choose “Save” and let the setup.exe file download to your desktop or Downloads folder. Then double click on it and let it install. When it’s done, re-enable your antivirus firewall application, and you’re good to go.

Computers for Beginners

November 2nd, 2009

From personal computers for home and family use to computers for the serious gamer, to computers for running a small or medium sized business, to computers available to the public sector in schools, libraries or hospitals, or to the elite computers utilized in major enterprise and industry, the technology market is inundated with computer models that offer functions to meet any need.

The overwhelming number of choices can be staggering for the person seeking to purchase a new computer. Do they choose a desktop model as the best value for their money or do they need the portability of a laptop? Do they choose an Apple computer or a PC version? If they decide to go with the PC, which brand is best and how much should they expect to pay for it? The questions are endless, but there is an answer for every question.

There are multiple computer choices available for purchase to fit most budgets and perform most computer related tasks required by the consumer. Office supply stores are just one place to purchase a computer. They are also readily available in many department stores now, from specialty stores that handle a particular brand, or, as many people are opting, can be purchased online from an overwhelming number of places.

First, a consumer should determine the primary use of the computer. Serious gamers will usually gravitate toward an Alienware computer before they would choose a Mac. Professional photographers, however, might look only at the Apple computers because of their reputation for superior multimedia and graphics, and not even consider buying a Dell, HP, or Compaq PC. For entertainment, the new computers that offer Blue Ray players would be attractive and there are those who swear that a computer running the Linux OS will be the best computer for surfing the web.  For children, the Apple computer is reputedly the best option. For college students, the best computer may be a laptop model, but then again, a desktop model that remains in the dorm may be a wiser choice. The best computer for anyone is highly subjective.

For any function, it is always debatable what computer best suits the needs of the user, but talking with a qualified representative can help any consumer narrow down their choices.  When it comes down to the bottom line, the big question is usually, “What is the best computer for my money?” Simply put, the best computer for the money is the computer that will do the job that it needs to do. Not everyone has the knowledge and experience to purchase the parts and assemble their own computer, though doing so is usually the least expensive route. For the rest of the world, purchasing a new computer involves research and at least a general idea of how and where the computer will be used. Some of the concerns that warrant consideration in the purchase of a new computer are the importance of service and support for the computer, protecting the data on the computer, whether or not it will be running graphic intense programs such as games, and how important power and speed will be and whether or not the customer will desire an extended warranty on their new computer. Laptops are becoming the computer of choice for many, but there are still those who prefer the desktop models for their personal use.

Keeping all of these issues in mind, the selection of new computers from such stellar names as Dell, Acer, Compaq, Gateway, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Lenovo, Sony, Apple, Samsung, Alienware and Toshiba will net any computer consumer the best laptop or computer for the money, specifically, one that will do the job they require of it.
