How to Prepare Wedding Cupcakes for Your Big Day

April 18th, 2010

Other than the wedding dress, probably what best represents a wedding in most people’s mind is the wedding cake. Everybody wants to see the cake and know what it tastes like. Cakes have become more elaborate and quite frankly much more expensive. The designs are incredible and they aren’t the old plain white cakes like they used to be.

But many couples are shocked when they see the price. That’s one reason that many brides and grooms are turning to the option of having wedding cupcakes as new and unique wedding cake idea. In addition to being less expensive generally than a professional wedding cake, they are easy to make and like wedding cakes can be made in many different styles and flavors.

Here are some tips for preparing your own wedding cupcakes.

  • Get all the items together than you will need. That means both the ingredients and the cooking utensils.
  • Just like deciding on the size cake you need, you will need to decide how many cupcakes you will need. You could figure about two cupcakes per guest. It’s a good idea to increase that number some just in case. Some might not make it, if you know what we mean.
  • This is a good way to get all those family and friends who want to help with your wedding. That is, you don’t have to bake these yourself. Get others to do it for you. It is something they will enjoy and a way for them to feel like they are contributing. You could make a group project for a get-together.
  • Here are some other decisions and things to do. Depending on how many cupcakes you will have, find the kind of tower you want or need at a craft store. Choose a flavor or maybe multiply flavors so that you have something for everyone. Pick the color or colors of the frosting. Probably you want to think about your wedding color theme.

Finally, have someone in charge to make sure your wedding cupcakes are stored properly, transported safely to the wedding location, and set up according to plan.

How To Become a Midwife

April 6th, 2010

Nowadays, more often women are opting for at home births, and helping them deliver new life into the world might be just the thing for you, but first you must know how to become a midwife.

Helping the mother closely with both pre-natal, delivery, and post partum of their new baby, is the main part of their job.  Working only with low risk births and needing to know when going to a hospital is essential.  Because this is a type of medical profession, there are things that need to be done and learned, courses and tests that need to be passed and experience that needs to be gained.

In order to qualify, you need to pass the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) written examination and skills assessment, plus have a minimum of one year clinical midwife training and 1,350 hours working under the supervision of a midwife.  With the life of a baby at stake, these are very important steps to go through.

There are many colleges that offer courses in this, both online and in a traditional classroom.  With a little research it shouldn’t be hard to find one fits in with your schedule.  In addition, it can be very helpful to take courses in biology, chemistry and health if they are not already required.  The more knowledge you have under you belt, will not only aid in the delivery of the child, but also help keep the mother at ease.

Remember, though, the reason that a lot of mothers are going for at home births is not just for your knowledge, but for your bedside manner, and that is something no school can teach.  Moms who have their babies at home want that personal touch and comfort, so listening to them might be the best skill that you ever learn.

If this sounds like it is the type of career that is perfect, there is nothing stopping you, plus you can get started a lot quicker than becoming an obstetrician.  Now that you know how to become a midwife, all you need to do is get started.  A truly fulfilling career is waiting.

Finding Freelance Writing Success

March 28th, 2010

If you’re starting out as a true newbie, then you know that finding freelance writing success is not at all an easy thing to do.  While many people espouse “improve your value” or “work your way up,” those are really general rah-rah phrases that don’t help you out one single bit.  There’s no question that long term freelance writing success whether online or off is a struggle that requires a ton of hard work and dedication and stubbornness that borders on obsession.

There are 2 main things most writers need to concentrate on when trying to improve their lot.  The first is figuring out the strong points of your portfolio that are giving you the most results and concentrating energy into growing that.  It could be a passive income site that you’re just killing it on, or that could be a couple clients whose jobs make the majority of your income even if they don’t take up too many hours.  You want to multiply your strengths to build momentum, because positive momentum is very hard to stop.

The second is to locate the least productive work you’re doing.  Maybe you’re putting in a lot of hours trying to make writing for two online websites work, but they’re just not producing results.  Then find a better website that pays better and spend all those hours on that site.  The key is to move up.  When I started out I was absolutely desperate and destitute, so I had a minimum I’d accept of $4 an hour.  As I got better and became more confident, I dumped all those jobs for $7.  Then $10.  Then $12.  You have to do the same thing – work on your strengths and raise the basement.

If you follow these pieces of freelance writing advice for beginners, you’re going to end up very good at being able to analyze your business and at improving your lot.

Christian Counseling for Christian Marriage Problems

March 22nd, 2010

If you are a Christian and you are experiencing marital conflicts is recommended that you seek professional Christian counseling services. If money is an issue you can find free Christian counseling and even very reasonably priced Christian counseling online.

This article is merely intended for general education purposes for resolving conflicts and a Christian marriage. You might call these rules for fighting fair.

Number one, only deal with the problem at hand. It can be hard enough to work through one issue then to introduce several problems all at once. One thing you do not want to do is to bring up a lot of issues from the past. You probably have heard that old joke about the man who told his friend that his wife was always getting historical. His friends said don’t you mean hysterical? He said no, historical because she is always bringing up the past. It would be funnier if couples didn’t actually do this so often. Another way it has been put is to not become an archaeologist and the dig up the past.

Number two don’t try to read your partner’s mind. We all think that we are good mind readers. But the truth is we are often wrong in our assumptions. It is much better to ask our husband or wife to explain to us their viewpoint in more detail so that there are no misunderstandings.

Number three, along the same line don’t become your mates psychologist. It will make your partner mad and rightly so if you tried to tell them what they are thinking or the reason they are doing what they are doing. Again, don’t assume. Keep your focus on the problem at hand rather than going down dead ends of analyzing your spouses personality or family of origin.

Number four, try to keep your voice column. The level of your voice will either insight your spouse or will calm them down. A loud voice and yelling will only make them angry at you. Don’t get into the business of name-calling. Even one stone if it seems sarcastic can cause the argument to intensify.

Number five, do not make a speech. That is going over the top and will not be appreciated or received well. Simply explain your perspective is clearly, simply, and is briefly as you can. And then spend time listening to what you’re partner says in response.

Funny quotes immortalized by famous figures

March 20th, 2010

I love to get acquainted with people who are on the same wavelength as I am. I would do small talk and the conversation usually revolves around the things that we enjoy the most like our favorite movie, book or even funny quotes about life. I was able to remember some of these quotes that I shared with them not so long ago.

“Everything is funny as long as it is happening to somebody else” – Will Rogers

People who have the urge of looking for a joke at someone else’s expense may find mishaps funny but if they were in those hapless people’s shoes, they too will surely want to crawl in a big black hole and die. It is easy for us to find humor in difficult and embarrassing situation which doesn’t involve us but we should also realize that what these people went through is no joke.  Humor and insult are two contrasting ideas. A humor only becomes an insult if it already hurts someone’s feelings.

“Life doesn’t imitate art, it imitates bad television” Woody Allen

Media have a distinct power of influencing an individual’s thought. These public figures that we seen on TV have somehow made changes with how we view things. We may not be aware how it shaped us to become a different individual and even though we are seemed unperturbed to their own views and opinions, they still have their own capability of changing your own views.

“Life is as tedious as a twice-told tale vexing the dull ear of a drowsy man ” – William Shakespeare

There are instances when we are going in circles with the same scheme of things.  Our existence is only governed by the routine that we have to go through everyday. It sometimes makes us miss out on discovering the true essence of life.

“Nothing is as frustrating as arguing with someone who knows what he’s talking about” – Sam Ewing

Our mind is cluttered up with loads of crap from people who seem to cloud our clear judgment.  They act as though they are unfamiliar of the situation when in fact they exactly know the ins and outs of it. They have this certain feigned ignorance designed to deceive and mock us. These are cunning people who use their strategies to get ahead of us.

No matter how hard we try not to bend the rules and cross lines, there are still people that will go to certain extent just to test us. If we easily give in, they are going to be the ones who will reign supreme in the end. All we have to do with these kinds of individuals is to simply leave an impression of casual indifference. Life can be really challenging and hard at times and these funny life quotes are its understatement.

Opportunities For Young Entrepreneurs

February 24th, 2010

Homeschool allows for a realm of experimentation that cannot take place anywhere else. The homeschool student is not taught to be a one is a million they are taught to be unique and the should be taught that the world their oyster. Their future is not determined by what school they go to, where they live, or how much money they make. Their future is of their choosing.

The historical record shows us that the institution of traditional school was created by politicians and business people with the intention of creating a vast labor pool with which to staff their operations. Look inside a traditional school to see this unfolding, students are categorized and labeled and shuffled through a predetermined maze, complete with lines, bells, drills, and a rigidity that is reminiscent of military life.

This leads me to the point I have been trying to make. Schooling should be about teaching kids how to be independent, make their own decisions, and make a good living for themselves. In this spirt why not teach them about the possibilities and potential offered to us in this country and make it attainable? Instead of teaching them to follow the more common path of growing up and getting a good job so that they can afford things they don’t want. At this time in history it is possible to start a business from within your home with next to nothing invested except for time. Why not make a home school experiment out of an entrepreneurial activity such as this?

Teaching economics, math, computer skills, communication skills, entrepreneurship, and geography, are some of the subjects that parents struggle to teach creatively. This could be a great opportunity for kids to save money or to let it pile up in a college fund or some other type of savings account. Realizing at a young age that you are in control of your own destiny is powerful. And making impacts like this is why many parents home school.

There are many options to consider, from eBay, to opportunities on craig’s list, to writing income producing blogs, offering some type of service, or even web design,. With the right contacts, the right software, and support and encouragement from family students could really excel at various online opportunities.

I look forward to my own home schooled children on their way to college with the confidence that they have already succeeded in life. They have already carved out their piece of the American dream and can support themselves in whatever the choose to do.

Seattle DUI Lawyer | Show Up For Court

February 11th, 2010

I know having to go to court is scary. And I know that it is embarrassing. And you know what else? I also know that not going to court is not going to make the problem go away. I’m a Seattle DUI lawyer, and I see this problem crop up all the time. People just are scared to go to court.

But not showing up is just not good, for several reasons. First, it makes you look bad in front of the court and in front of the prosecutor. If you have to come to court you are accused of a crime. Whether or not we are all innocent until proven guilty, the judge, who sees guilty people all the time, and the prosecutor, who thinks everyone is guilty, don’t trust you. And you not showing up for court reinforces that viewpoint.

Second, it creates additional problems for you. For example, let’s say you have a Seattle DUI charge. You do the right thing and go out and hire a Seattle DUI lawyer to help you out. But, on your court date, you don’t show up. When that happens, it isn’t like the judge just says “okay, let’s try to get them in here next time.” No, they want you in there now, so they issue a little thing called a bench warrant. This means if you get stopped by the cops for any reason you are probably going to be hauled off to jail. Thought you were embarrassed before? How about now?

Finally, not showing up for court makes me look dumb and wastes my time, two things I’m not a big fan of. When you are at home worrying about your DUI charge, I’m doing everything I can to minimize the damage it causes. You not showing up just shows you don’t appreciate all the work I’ve been doing.

So, to wrap this up, the lesson of the day is to show up for court. Nobody there cares who you are. And showing up will make everything go much smoother than if you don’t.

Reflexology Foot Massage

January 17th, 2010

Not too long awhile the art of reflexology massage was born. In 1913, a doctor named William Fitzgerald began using it. His theory was that when pressure is applied to certain parts of the body, it increases the well-being of others. This creates a funny sensation in those places. First, with the guidance of a reflexology expert, you will decide if the massage is right for you. After that, a ‘map’ is created to find the stress points of your body, in which to target. In about an hour, you will feel like you have never felt in a long time. Rates per hour or session is dependent on the practitioner, so make sure to choose one that is reputable and does not charge a lot.

Different Types of Fire Extinguishers

January 15th, 2010

There are several types of fire extinguishers types that you should know about in order to properly extinguish a fire.

The most common type of extinguisher is of course the water type extinguisher. IT is used to put out Class A fires. Class A fires include wood, fabric, paper, furniture etc. Water fire extinguishers are usually a silver container with a small nozzle attached to the neck. Though water type fire extinguisher are good on Class A they should never be used on electrical fires. Since water is a very good conductor of electricity using one can potentially create a dangerous situation where you can get electrocuted. You also don’t want to use a water extinguisher on a liquid fire like oil. Using water will only cause the burning oil to spread and make conditions even more dangerous.

Carbon Dioxide or Co2 fire extinguishers can be used on electrical fires. Co2 extinguishers can also be used on flammable liquid fires. The main characteristics of this units if the bright red color and the horn which gets pointed at the fire prior to releasing the chemical.

The next extinguisher we will look at is the dry powder extinguishers. These type are the most flexible in terms of the types of fires that they can be used on. Powder fire extinguishers can be used on flammable liquids and solids, gas and electrical fires as well. You often find the min homes and vehicles. These extinguishers though they are multi-purpose should not be used in areas that are enclosed or where there is sensitive electronic equipment like computer, monitors, etc.

Like any other type of safety equipment it is important that you learn to use them properly by knowing when and how each one should be used. We hope this interesting article has provided you with some useful information.

Teaching English in China

January 14th, 2010

Teaching English overseas is a great way to experience a country, and China provides lots of opportunities for teaching. China can be an amazing place to teach and a great opportunity to explore a unique and rich culture. Teaching English in China can be a very rewarding experience but it is one that requires a lot of patience and flexibility.

Teaching in China
requires very few qualifications. It used to be well known for not needing anything more than being a native English speaker and enthusiasm to teach. These easy requirements led to an overwhelming number of westerners flocking to China to teach. Recently, China has tried to up their standards. They still don’t require you to have completed a TEFL course, but they do now require teachers to hold a degree, although the degree can be in any subject area.

It is a good idea to find your teaching job by using a company to help you. They will protect you against contract changes and they will have thoroughly screened all the schools they deal with. This will also ensure that you are teaching in a good environment. Your job will usually start either in August at the beginning of the school year, or in February when students get back from break.

The regular monthly salary rates for China tend to be lower than in other Asian countries. Their rates range from $600-1,000 USD a month. One reason why rates are lower is because the cost of living in China is also lower. Your airfare can also often be included, as well as your living quarters (most often a furnished apartment on school property).

Your work week will usually consist of 20-30 hours of teaching time, leaving you lots of spare time to explore the city and surrounding area. Be prepared to teach a large class of children. It is not unheard of for classes to be made up of more than 60 children. Even though you will have a lot of students, Chinese students are very easy to teach because they are obedient, are eager to learn and are respectful.

Cooking your food quickly

September 28th, 2009

Convection microwave cooking is the process of circulating hot air across the food as the microwave cooks it. Convection microwave ovens are able to give meat, pizza, and other complicated dishes the surface heat it needs to brown the dish or melt the chocolate. Convection is considered as best for easy and quick cooking.  Convection is the process in which heat is transferred from one point to another, with the help of electric current flowing through the medium such as liquid or gas. These ovens are slightly different from the regular ovens that we use. . The tabletop unit can function as a conventional oven or uses both modes at once to cook faster.  Of course, the capacity is reduced due to its smaller size. Still you receive a oven that cooks quicker than the traditional microwave.

Web-based Training Saves Time and Money

August 28th, 2009

The Internet has made it much easier to go to take online classes on just about any topic. Web-based learning, often called elearning is much more convenient than taking time to sit in a classroom to learn a new subject. Just think of the time you will save. To take a traditional class you have to drive to the class, wait until the instructor is setup and ready to teach, and also deal with a variety of levels of knowledge from the students in the class. Maybe you are a fast learner. You will be held back by a slower student.

With web-based training you can take a course at your own speed and still get one-on-one attention from the instructor. You can also participate in chats or message boards to interact with fellow students. Web-based classes will save you both time and money because an online classroom does not have to pay for the overhead of a physical building.

Average Student Loan Debt

August 27th, 2009

Almost the majority of students now a days have to take out loans to help pay for college. It is just one of those things that we have to do and that we accept in furthering our future and our career opportunities. The sad thing is the amounts of money that the average student has in loan debt. Average student loan debt has risen drastically in the past decade. If the entire students education is not taken out with a loan than at least half of the students tuition is taken out in some form of a loan or pay back program to the government. Do your research and decide what is the right and correct program for you. It could be the difference between you paying off your school in ten years or in twenty.

College Green

August 25th, 2009

When people think of College green they may think of the massive green lawns they have to trudge across to get to class. Or how much a higher education costs. But when I think of College green I think of the new digital movement for e textbooks. These digital textbooks will not only save money, but they will use less natural resources and cut down on waste by not using a lot of trees and creating books that will someday need to be disposed of. Digital textbook stores are springing up all over the Internet. And this fall seems to be the big push to go digital. In fact there are also many promotions going on right now where students can win free e textbooks.

Vacation Security: Be Protected While You’re Away

July 11th, 2009

The best way to protect your home and belongings while you are on vacation is to find a house sitter. This is an excellent way to keep burglars from targeting your home. The house sitter simply stops by a few times a day to check on things, grab the daily mail, and turns on your lights at night giving the appearance that someone is home. Having someone to pick up your mail is a big deal. Even if you are not gone for very long if your mail starts to pile up, even after a couple of days, burglars will know that you are not home.

Another good way to protect your home while you’re away is to purchase a few timers. These timers can be plugged into the wall and set for different times. When the timer “goes off” whatever is connected to the timer comes on for its allotted amount of time and then shuts off on its own. You can connect radios, lamps, and televisions to these timers giving the appearance that you are home when you a really on vacation with your family.
