Sampling Indoor Tanning Lotion

February 9th, 2010

Those who are looking for the best indoor tanning lotion for the first time will be in for a very special journey. It is not easy to predict what lotion would work for one individual versus another because of the many differences in skin types. The tiny differences in ingredients used to formulate the various brands will react differently from one skin to another. There are a few ways to get your hands on samples without having to spend too much money and going through sample after sample is really the only way to discover that lotion is best for you.

There will be coupons in places where you would expect to find advertisements for tanning products. Publications like beauty magazines and the health section of your local newspaper are good places to begin. There are also free samples at tanning salons and beauty shops all over but these samples and coupons are usually limited to the promotional or new lines of product. If you really want to get your hands on some good cheap indoor tanning lotions then go online and shop for sampler packs. There will be many sellers on places like eBay where you can buy an entire pack of hundreds of different samples. This allows you to test many different brands in one convenient place at a very economical cost.

When testing these sample lotions it is important not to use it on your body right away. While there are few and very mild side effects the bottom line is that you still want to play it safe. Some side effects such as skin irritation, rash, and other symptoms of allergic reactions might occur. These can be very unpredictable so use caution whenever applying a new brand. It is a good idea to test it on a small area of skin first before applying to your entire body. Apply to a small area such as the back of your hand and allow it to sit for at least 24 hours to determine whether you are allergic.

Coveted Cycling Jerseys in Big Competitions

January 25th, 2010

The three most prestigious cycling competitions in racing are the big national tours contested in France, Italy and Spain. These are the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta de España respectively. All of these races see around 200 cyclists at the peak of their fitness pit their skills and endurance against each other in a gruelling road race that takes many days to complete.

The three tours – together called the Grand Tours – each have sections, or stages, suited to sprint racing and others in the mountains, which are better for the hill climbing specialists. Of course, the biggest prize of all is to beat all the other opponents, and this is measured simply by adding up all the times from all the days’ racing to get an aggregate time. The fastest time overall wins!

As the race progresses, at the end of each day there will be a rider whose time for all the previous stages is fastest. For the following stage of the race, this rider will wear a prized cycling jersey, the color of which will depend on which tour is being contested. Most people have heard of the famous yellow jersey. This is worn by the overall – or general classification – leader in the Tour de France. In the other races of the Grand Tours, the cycling shirts colors are different. So in the Spanish race, la Vuelta, the color is similar for the race leader and is called the golden jersey. However, in the Giro d’Italia in Italy, the leader wears the pink jersey.

For the sprint specialists, points are awarded to the fastest cyclists to finish each stage, and their points are accumulated during the competition. In the Tour de France, the racer with the highest aggregate points score has the honor of wearing the green jersey. The same color is used for the points leader in the Spanish tour. However, in Italy, the points leader of the Giro wears a red jersey.

The cycling shirt colors can be a little confusing, and you need to remember which country’s race you are watching because there is a third coveted jersey, reserved for the mountains classification. In the Tour de France, the jersey is unmistakable, and is white with red polka dots. Unfortunately for the spectators, in the other two tours, the colors are red in the Vuelta, and green in the Giro for the “King of the Mountains”. These are the same colors as for the points leader as described above, but simply swapped over!

Powerlifting vs. Strongman

December 28th, 2009

People often confuse these two sports. A lot of you don’t know that they are not the same. Although powerlifting and strongman are very similar in nature because they both require heavy strength training, they have their differences. So in essence, both are strength sports with the difference that powerlifting has three cultivated lifts called the squat, the bench press and the deadlift.

Strongmen, as its name implies, is more inclined to old strength matches between towering giants with tons of heaping muscles. Also, powerlifting requires a lot more practice of technique and form, which is why it is more revered amongst the strength professionals and experts as a much cleaner and technical sport. Nevertheless, a strongman has its own charm and attracts quite a bit of faithful audience.

Minoura Bike Trainers Guide

November 23rd, 2009

Once daylight savings time hits, it’s time for most cyclists to call it a season, especially if you live where it gets really, really cold after dark. Many cyclists break out the indoor bike trainer and for good reason, they don’t want to lose the conditioning that they gained all summer long. One of my favorites is a Minoura Bike Trainer, the Minoura is a great way to stay in shape over the winter.

If you aren’t familiar with this particular bike trainer, then understand that Minoura is one of the largest bike trainer manufacturers in the world. They make tens of thousands of these puppies every single year and they have a great reputation for durability and economy, meaning they are a great value.

The Minoura 850 is a Magnetic bike trainer. These bike trainers work slightly differently than the fluid trainers that many are so familiar with in that the flywheel is coupled to the rear wheel via magnets. Powerful magnets connect the driveshaft to the weighted flywheel and these magnets provide resistance, which is what gives you a workout.

The good thing about a Magnetic bike trainer is that it won’t leak like some fluid trainers are known to do but the downside is that they tend to be somewhat noisier than the average fluid trainer. This might not seem like a big deal but if you live in an apartment or condo, it could mean the difference between happy neighbors and a lynch mob.

If you’ve been considering a bike trainer this season, then give the Minoura Magnetic bike trainer a good look. It could be perfect for you.

Winter Cycling Shoes

November 3rd, 2009

Everyone knows that cycling is 80% effort and 20% kit, the right kit can make you ride faster, more efficiently and make you more aerodynamic and it is even more important to get the right kit when the winter roles in. More than anything you need to be warm on the bike when you ride.

I don’t know about you but I always make sure I am wearing the right base layer, middle layer and outer layers but until I got caught in a winter storm last year I never thought about my cycling shoes.

While most of my body was warm because of waterproofs and thermals, my feet got soak and I had to plod home, freezing and wishing I had better cycling shoes on.

Good winter cycling shoes are a million miles away from summer cycling shoes, they aren’t breathable and they are heavy. These are all poor in summer but over winter these are fantastic things to look for.

Like mountain bike cycling shoes have a little tred on the bottom so that you don’t slip on leaves or sodden ground and have a slightly softer sole so that should you need to, you can dismount and walk a little easier.

Finally a good winter cycling shoe often has a Gore-Tex lined insulation inside the shoe which lets your foot breath while still keeping water out and a treated coated leather upper section which helps to provide protection from any sudden storms that might blow in (and believe me this is worth its’ weight in gold should you be unlucky enough to encounter a sudden storm).

Choosing the Right Squash Racquet

October 15th, 2009

It can be hard to find the exact squash racquet that’s right for you just by shopping online.  We want to do, to spend some real hands-on time on the court with a number of different squash rackets in your hand.  What this does is enables you to get a real honest feel for how squash racquet works for you.  There’s no substitute for actually hitting a ball around the court with a number of different squash rackets and a number of different positions, and a number of different drills.  The last time I picked squash rackets, I was fortunate enough to have the benefit of approach up with the court just a few steps away.  The Pro took me to the core with five different squash rackets and we spent about a half an hour doing different drills, with different shots including lollies, drop shots, and length shots.  After that I was able to find the racquet best suited to me, and as a result about two of them.  It’s always good to have a backup.  Now I know exactly what kind squash racquet works for me and it may make sense next time for me to shop around online to get the best price I can for those rackets.  You can read all the squash racquet reviews you want, but there’s no substitute for actually having your hands on the real thing.

Why is the Clearinghouse important?

October 6th, 2009

The NCAA Clearinghouse is important for student-athletes because if you are not registered with the Clearinghouse then you will not be eligible to play at the Division I or II level.  The NCAA Clearinghouse is basically a stamp of approval for you as a student-athlete to let college coaches know that you are academically eligible to play at their University.

Once the Clearinghouse has approved your academic status, it gives the coach recruiting you certainty that if and when they offer you a scholarship that you will be an eligible athlete for their program next year.  You can learn more about Collegiate academic eligibility by searching the NCAA web site.

I recently heard about an outstanding high school basketball player that got a full ride scholarship.  The coaches just assumed because of the quality high school he attended he was NCAA Clearinghouse certified.  Well, once he got on campus next fall, the coaches realized the student-athlete had never registered for the Clearinghouse, and he nearly lost his scholarship.  The coach had to jump through hoops (pun intended) to allow him to keep his scholarship and keep him eligible.

The Bridge card game

October 4th, 2009

Bridge is a card game for 4 players separated in two teams of two playing with a regular 52 card deck of playing cards. It isn’t just the playing of the cards that’s involved but the tactical side of the game in interesting and important too. This critical tactical element of the game concerns the bidding which is similar to an auction. The bidding is by the two teams who try to outbid each other by announcing the number of tricks that each team will score during the actual playing of the cards. So, in essence there are two parts to the game, the bidding and the play. The vast majority of bridge players prefer the card playing element but each hand is played by just one person, with the two opponents defending and the player’s partner acting as the ‘dummy’. Dummy is not allowed to speak to his partner during the play of the hand but is free to do so once play has concluded.

Are Chlorine Tablets for Swimming Pools Harmful?

September 30th, 2009

Chlorine tablets and chlorine use in swimming pools in general has been blamed for a number of ailments including skin rashes, irritable eyes and breathing difficulties. It should be stressed however, that this method of cleansing swimming pools, both private and public has been used for many years and the number of cases are extremely rare.

Remember that the alternatives to cleaning your pool would be very nasty bugs and bacteria in the water which could cause you all sorts of trouble. Not only does chlorine remove bacteria from your pool, it also prevents algae build up in and around your pool and maintains the correct pH level of your swimming pool water (the pH level should be the same as human tears).

Chlorine tablets and granules are designed so that you can enjoy the fantastic leisure pursuit of swimming. So keep healthy and dive in!

Child bike carriers allow for a wonderful way for you to spend good, quality time with your children in the great outdoors.  Not only are you getting them out of the house and into some new and different environments that are sure to be stimulating for their minds, but you may also find yourself amazed at what this kind of scenic stimulation along with some fresh air can do for a child’s sleeping abilities.

I know I am not the only parent who appreciates the naps that arise from the time my daughter spends in our child bike carrier.  It’s almost magical really; she starts off completely wide-eyed and excited, eventually transitions into a more of an observer, taking it all in, and then before you know it, she is out like a light.  The beauty is that with all the new advances in security and safe harnesses on these child bike carriers, I know that she is perfectly safe and well protected and supported back there, while I get my fresh air and workout in, while spending time with my little princess too.

Bean Bag Toss Bags And Maintenance

Cornhole!

If you’re new to the game of cornhole then you’re probably already in the process of buying bean bag toss bags online or in a store.  But you need to take a few things into consideration.  Not all bags are the same, though they might initially seem so.

If you’re smart you’ll buy quality bean bags for cornhole because they last longer and are easier to clean.  When they do get dirty you have two options based on the material.  If your bags are filled with plastic beads then you can toss them in the washer but use the gentle cycle and cold water if possible.  Then let them air dry.  If the bags have whole kernel cracked corn in them then you need to avoid the washer.  You’ll need to clean these by hand with a damp cloth and a mild detergent.  Just be sure not to soak them or it could turn the corn to mush.

Pros and Cons of Cheap Golf Clubs

September 16th, 2009

It might be argued that when buying cheap golf clubs you always need to make sure to get the best quality and quantity for your money. Considering, what makes them cheap? Isn´t it inevitedly a lack in quality? How else would a lower price be justified?!
We say, let that be no concern of yours though. If you are a passionate golfer and make the time to play often it might even be the best idea to decide on a lower priced equipment. Over time golf cubs change and ose their drive.
Cheap golf clubs might also be the right choice for you if you are still studying, are tight on money yet want to earn the game your future boss might invite you to one day.

A promising plot for Disney´s new animated feature film that is about to hit the cinemas in late October this year. Production took over two years. Lets watch a funny and romantic snowy drama about an icy princess and a courageous knight unfold. An enchanting Cinderella theme in snow board boots.

2 Drills To Use While In The Batting Cage

September 4th, 2009

If you are fortunate enough to have access to a batting cage, then you want to make sure that you have a plan are getting the most out of your time. Lining your child up and having a pitching machine throw baseballs is one way and is obviously an effective use of time. Since the machine is consistent, it allows the player to get accustomed to seeing pitches at a reasonable speed. However, also consider using a batting tee. This piece of equipment is not just for beginners. It provides your child the opportunity to work on their stance and enables repetition thus facilitating a smooth consistent swing. So, the next time you and your child go to the batting cages, work these two drills in to your practice time.

Buying a Badminton Racket

September 3rd, 2009

You can spend a few hundred pounds on the latest badminton rackets that are available today. They are so costly because they offer the best quality and user experience for players. Many people think that buying an expensive model will make them a better player, and help them play like the professionals who use them. Sadly this is not the case. The only way to improve is to get some coaching and learn the basics of the game such as footwork and technique.

The actual badminton racket will only give you a couple of percent advantage, and that is only if you know how to use one. The clever marketing is what makes players think they can play well with the latest creations. Buying cheaper can work just as well, as the difference in quality is not as much as you may think.

Female Muscle Growth Myths

August 19th, 2009

There are several misconceptions regarding female muscle growth.

Misconception #1: Weight training  makes women huge and manly.

The common image of a female who weight trains is the professional bodybuilder who is veiny and huge, looking extremely manly and unappealing to look at, who has an oiled up and gargantuan structure.

Not mentioned is that steroid supplements are used by 99.9% of female professional bodybuilders to develop their superhuman muscles.

As the amount of testosterone necessary to build those muscles isn’t available in women, it’s the only possible explanation. Just lifting weights will not give a woman that huge physique; they’re supplementing it with steroids.

Female Strenght Training Misconception #2 – Women lose their breasts when they weight train.

You’ll mostly find fat tissue in your breasts. Breasts will decrease in size with loss of body fat.

In order for a woman’s breast to become smaller, she must lose a bunch of fat from her body.

Muscle tissue is developed by weight training. Female strength training will work on the muscles underneath a woman’s chest and can result in her having a better upper body shape and develop her curves. You’ll also get great cleavage that will make your beach look fabulous if you make sure your chest is properly developed.

Myth #3: Stopping weight training will turn a woman’s muscles into fat.

One thing that stops a lot of women from weight training is the worry that they’ll gain a lot of fat once they stop.

You’ll find that muscle and fat have nothing whatsoever to do with each other. Muscle’s function is to burn calories, whereas fat’s function is to store fat cells.

There’s no alchemy involved; they cannot turn into the other under any circumstance, so don’t worry. Fat can only be gained and lost; muscle can only be built or lost. They are very different types of tissues and do not work together.

The fourth myth about female body building is your fat weights less than your muscle.

It is no surprise that this saying is believed. Dr. Phil said it in one of his very public books on weight loss.

However, a pound of muscle and a pound of fat both weigh the same — a pound. What isn’t well known is that muscle is denser than fat, so it does not take up as much space in the body.

Less body fat and more developed muscles will give a woman’s frame the leaner, tighter, “toned” look they are wanting.

Developing more muscles by using female weight training make a woman feel more like a woman.

Selecting a New Tackle Box

August 3rd, 2009

If you are an angler that is completely new to the sport, choosing which tackle box is right for you can be something of a challenge. With all the different sizes, shapes, and styles of fishing tackle boxes, the modern fisherman is truly spoiled for tackle box choices. Most fisherman will go for the simple tray tackle box, as they feature great storage capacity and are usually small and light enough for even the most mobile fisherman.

However, certain fishing styles, such as wading and fly fishing, demand the use of more specialized tackle boxes. For example, when fly fishing most anglers employ the fly box. Fly boxes are simple tackle boxes that feature foam inserts that the lures are stuck to. Another example is the pocket tackle box, which are very popular among ultralight fisherman.
