Another way in which people are trying to reduce their carbon footprint on the earth is by buying green. In addition to reducing, reusing, and recycling, buying green products is quickly becoming a way in which people can contribute to the environmental efforts. Manufacturers are beginning to use alternative fabrics and materials for the construction of apparel. Organic fibers such as organic cotton, bamboo, and even hemp, are being used in clothing. These all-natural fibers have several advantages over synthetic materials. For example, organic fibers are free from harmful pesticides, fertilizers, and dangerous chemicals which can often lead to skin irritation. Also, organic fibers like hemp are strong and resistant to molds and mildew. Organic wool is fire resistant and doesn’t attract dust mites. Clothes made from organic materials are biodegradable and represent yet another way in which people can contribute to the environmental movement. And now that manufacturers have gotten on board with natural coloring techniques, wearing organic clothes is fashionable in more ways than one.
