Memory foam has the ability to catch the public imagination. It’s physical characteristics seem to have made it most useful in the area of bedding products.
Memory foam is actually more correctly called visco-elastic. When warmed the foam becomes very flexible, and it is from this behaviour that the term elastic has been derived. This allows it to mould itself around someone lying on the foam. The foam that is not warmed up by the body lying on the foam do not get warmed up and as a result they remain firm and unyielding. This moulding effect has proved to be very useful in creating bedding products such as memory foam mattresses, pillows or the more economical memory foam mattress topper.
The great benefit of the foam is that it allows you to lie down without creating any pressure points. Pressure points can cause the body physical stress, even whilst sleeping. The body is supported very evenly by the memory foam. The result is that the sleeper wakes having had a very restful sleep. In addition, as the body has rested in a mould without pressure points causing movement the body has not needed to move as much as would previously been experienced.
Memory foam in the form of a memory foam mattress topper, or a memory foam pillow is truly a significant improvement on traditional products.
