Mini laptops can be a great tool for college students. They are affordable, very portable, and widely available, but you need to be aware of a few things before running out to buy one. For example certain models have keyboards that are very hard to type on, so making sure you get a model with a 10-inch screen can be a big help. Having typed on both the 9 and 10-inch models I can say that taking notes with the 10-inch is much easier. Another things to be aware of is that mini notebooks don’t come with CD-ROM drives. Depending on your major this might be a big deal. Most schools do a great job of providing most information such as source packets, etc in digital form, but eventually you will need a CD-ROM. Luckily you can purchase an external CD-ROM that connects via a USB port for around $18.00 – $30.00 dollars. Those are the only two problems I ran into while researching mini laptops for school. Hopefully they will help you find that perfect netbook.
