Pat was a typical teenage boy in university, if you consider surfing on the weekends normal. But during the week, without fail, Pat was a dedicated student. He was now in his third year in engineering. One of the activities he found to be pleasant was reading his textbooks and writing reports while using the porch glider on the side patio. It was certainly much nicer than working at a desk indoors. They called it the ‘porch glider’ because it should have been always located on his father’s porch just outside his father’s den. But he liked to move it to the other side of the house so he could work under the giant walnut tree by the side patio. He never got tired of gliding while studying; there was something about it that appealed to the surfer in him.
