Save Your Job With A Futon Mattress

August 23rd, 2009

I know, this sounds like a bold claim, especially for something so seemingly simple as a futon mattress.  The main thing is that it isn’t so much that a futon is magical in some way, or is it?  What is so magical about a futon is how they can allow you to get such a peaceful night’s sleep.  This is the key to keeping your job.  In times like these, that is more important than ever.

So, how can a futon help you keep your day job?  It works like this.  If you wake up feeling completely rested and full of energy, you will have a greater chance of being more alert and productive.  So, if your job is important to you, then futon mattresses might help you keep it.  If you don’t really like your current job, then maybe you should forget about getting a new futon.

What Are the Sizes of a Futon Mattress?

June 19th, 2009

A futon really is a versatile piece of furniture. During the day they can be used as couch and at night, after a quick push and pull of the mattress, they become a comfortable bed on which to sleep. This makes them great for small houses or dorms where space is at a premium or as a spare bed for when guests stay over. But it is important that whichever futon you choose that is comfortable.

The comfort level is determined by the futon mattress. You generally have three choices in a mattress – cotton, foam and inner spring. Cotton is cheap but not very comfortable. Foam can be good but doesn’t always offer that much support. Inner spring futons are the ultimate in comfort and are very similar to a normal bed. The thickness of the mattress is also very important and the comfort you are after the thicker you want your mattress.

Can Futon Covers Protect From Off Gassing?

May 29th, 2009

In short, the answer is yes, but you’ll have to make sure you get the right kind.  This is a good thing to know about futon covers.  The right kind is a polyethylene material that is a few mils thick.  This will provide for the best protection from off gassing caused by your mattress.  The best first step you can take prior to buying this mattress would be to check how it was made.  It is suggested to stay away from mattresses that have this high off gassing quality.  Next, you can opt to buy a floor model mattress that has likely been out for some time.  This will ensure that any off gassing it will do is likely already done.

Apart from these suggestions, it would also be wise to let you futon sit outside (weather permitting of course) or in a covered garage where the off gassing can occur outside your living space prior to use.  This is definitely a good idea if your futon mattress is for your baby or any aged child.  These gasses can have health consequences that can affect anyone, but especially people with more sensitive bodies.
