April 18th, 2010

Other than the wedding dress, probably what best represents a wedding in most people’s mind is the wedding cake. Everybody wants to see the cake and know what it tastes like. Cakes have become more elaborate and quite frankly much more expensive. The designs are incredible and they aren’t the old plain white cakes like they used to be.

But many couples are shocked when they see the price. That’s one reason that many brides and grooms are turning to the option of having wedding cupcakes as new and unique wedding cake idea. In addition to being less expensive generally than a professional wedding cake, they are easy to make and like wedding cakes can be made in many different styles and flavors.

Here are some tips for preparing your own wedding cupcakes.

  • Get all the items together than you will need. That means both the ingredients and the cooking utensils.
  • Just like deciding on the size cake you need, you will need to decide how many cupcakes you will need. You could figure about two cupcakes per guest. It’s a good idea to increase that number some just in case. Some might not make it, if you know what we mean.
  • This is a good way to get all those family and friends who want to help with your wedding. That is, you don’t have to bake these yourself. Get others to do it for you. It is something they will enjoy and a way for them to feel like they are contributing. You could make a group project for a get-together.
  • Here are some other decisions and things to do. Depending on how many cupcakes you will have, find the kind of tower you want or need at a craft store. Choose a flavor or maybe multiply flavors so that you have something for everyone. Pick the color or colors of the frosting. Probably you want to think about your wedding color theme.

Finally, have someone in charge to make sure your wedding cupcakes are stored properly, transported safely to the wedding location, and set up according to plan.

You can have any type of cake that you would like to have, but usually the more beautiful your cake the more beautiful your reception will be. Wedding Cake Factory

May 19th, 2009

The wedding cakes at the downtown cake factory in Los Angeles are to die for! I found out about it on this really neat site called Top Wedding Cakes. Anyways, they have the most amazing cakes I’ve ever seen and most of them are huge. They make wedding cakes for all kinds of rich and famous people throughout all of Los Angeles county, and they even cater. People from San Diego order their cakes from there too, even people from way up in Sacramento have bought cakes from them. I love the kinds of wedding cakes that are filled with different kinds of cream. Once I had a chocolate cake that had lots of strawberry cream filling inside, and on the outside it had lots of icing and decorations. It had ribbons, a bunch of little figures of the guests and lots of beautiful flowers.
