Tips For Using An Electric Treadmill

October 7th, 2009 by Admin Leave a reply »

If you have an electric treadmill stocked with high-tech features and adjustable settings, you can jazz up your workouts by taking advantage of your machine’s capabilities. To target your leg muscles from different angles and increase the difficulty of your run, set the electric treadmill to a higher incline, which simulates the motion of running uphill. If your treadmill can measure your pulse, try maintaining your target heart rate for the majority of your workout. To practice interval training, alternate your treadmill’s speed settings between high and low paces instead of running at a steady velocity. And no matter what you do during the bulk of your workout, be sure to spend at least five minutes before and after you run in a slower “warm up” or “cool down” state to avoid injury and shin splints.
