While most people don’t think about looking at a map as an antique, rare antique maps are worth quite a bit of money to the right collector. So, what is your antique map really worth?
History of any kind is neat to research and learn about. Using maps is a unique area of history, one which can really show the growth or decline of an area, whether it is a town or country. Many individual collectors generally like to have a map of their favorite town, city, state or country as well. Often times, finding the right map can be tough as most older maps have been thrown away or degraded to the point that they are worthless.
You old map can be worth quite a bit of money. The key to finding out how much is to have it appraised by a qualified company that specializes in antique maps. You can then find buyers through several channels, such as eBay or trade publications. Libraries are another great resource as a potential buyer of an antique map, however they usually don’t have the funds that a private collector would have.
